In a clinical study of 323 measurements in the OR, iNIBP measured NIBP in an average of 13 s but the conventional step down method took an average of 33s. If an artifact prevents pressure measurement during inflation, iNIBP automatically switches to conventional step down method to ensure a successful pressure measurement. If a different cuff is used, the linear inflation measurement may change to step down measurement more frequently. The inflation bags of infant and child cuffs are too small for the linear inflation method so it is more likely to switch to step down measurement.
