ProBeam proton therapy system Proton therapy system layout Gantry and robotic treatment table The proton therapy hardware consists of a cyclotron, an energy selection system, and multiple treatment rooms in the form of either rotating gantry or fixed beam rooms. All treatment tables are computer controlled with six degrees of freedom. They are designed for a maximum load of 273 kg (600 lbs) and are equipped with load cells to permit patient weight variation compensation. This dynamic compensation permits the treatment table to be positioned within a radius of 0.5 mm, thus making the use of a third X-ray axis obsolete. Time spent in patient positioning is reduced. This scanning nozzle can deliver intensity-modulated proton therapy (IMPT) treatment. The x-y deflection system consists of two orthogonal scanner magnets.
