Product catalog summary
Introduction
The document introduces the Alere Triage® Next Generation Troponin I Panels, which include various cardiac panels and controls designed for rapid quantitative determination of cardiac biomarkers.
Product Specifications
  • Cardiac Panel: Includes myoglobin, CK-MB, and Troponin I.
  • Next Generation Panels: Feature NG Troponin I, BNP, and CK-MB.
  • Controls: Available in different levels for quality assurance.
Measurable Range and Sensitivity
  • Troponin I Range: 0.01 ng/mL to 10 ng/mL for NG panels.
  • Analytical Sensitivity: Less than 0.01 ng/mL for NG panels.
  • Shelf Life: 10 months from the date of manufacture for NG panels.
Clinical Use and Indications
  • The panels are used for diagnosing myocardial infarction (MI) and assessing heart failure severity.
  • Troponin elevation is a specific indicator of cardiac myonecrosis but should be interpreted in clinical context.
Performance Characteristics
  • Lab vs. POC tests show similar performance in diagnosing NSTEMI.
  • POC tests provide rapid results, aiding in quick diagnosis and treatment decisions.
Guidelines and Recommendations
  • POC troponin tests are recommended when lab results are delayed.
  • Serial testing over 3 hours is effective for diagnosing AMI.
Prognostic Value
  • Elevated BNP/NT-proBNP levels are associated with increased mortality risk.
  • Both TnI and CK-MB levels are linked to in-hospital mortality.
Conclusion
The Alere Triage® Next Generation Troponin I Panels offer enhanced sensitivity and specificity for cardiac biomarker testing, supporting rapid and accurate diagnosis of cardiac conditions.

Introducing a new range: Alere Triage' Next Generation Troponin I Panels Current panel Next generation (NG) panels ■ Troponin elevation is a specific and sensitive indicator of cardiac myonecrosis, with release from myocytes into systemic circulation. ■ Elevated troponin alone is not an indication of MI (myonecrosis due to ischemia). Instead, it is nonspecific relative to the etiology of cardiac myonecrosis. ■ Elevated troponin can occur in many nonischemic conditions, thus elevation should always be interpreted in the context of clinical presentation and the pre-test likelihood that it presents MI.3

Performance characterstics, (95% CI) patients with and without NSTEMI (n=347)4 Point-of-Care/Bedside Biomarker Testing: ESC guidelines 20115 ■ Establishing the diagnosis of NSTEMI quickly and determining appropriate treatment is important. ■ POC biomarker tests provide results at minimal turnaround times. ■ Point-of-care troponin tests should be implemented when a central laboratory cannot consistently provide test results within 60 min. ■ In the ASPECT Trial using an Alere Triage® POC test, a 2-hour rapid rule-out protocol using a POC test, risk score, and ECG safely identified a patient group...
