Introducing a new range: Alere Triage' Next Generation Troponin I Panels Current panel Next generation (NG) panels ■ Troponin elevation is a specific and sensitive indicator of cardiac myonecrosis, with release from myocytes into systemic circulation. ■ Elevated troponin alone is not an indication of MI (myonecrosis due to ischemia). Instead, it is nonspecific relative to the etiology of cardiac myonecrosis. ■ Elevated troponin can occur in many nonischemic conditions, thus elevation should always be interpreted in the context of clinical presentation and the pre-test likelihood that it presents MI.3
