Aerogen Pro
The Aerogen® Pro System is a portable medical device for aerosolizing medications for inhalation, suitable for patients on and off mechanical ventilation, including neonates, pediatrics, and adults. It operates without compressed gas and is intended for hospital use.
The device is designed for multiple patient use to aerosolize medications for inhalation across all age groups.
The system includes a nebulizer, T-piece, controller, controller cable, AC/DC adapter, and mounting brackets. It can hold up to 10 mL of medication and uses the Aerogen Vibronic® aerosol generator.
Only trained medical personnel should operate the device. Ensure proper functioning by checking for visible aerosol and no flashing indicator lights. Avoid using with flammable substances and unauthorized modifications. Follow cleaning and sterilization instructions strictly.
Clean and sterilize components before use. Connect the nebulizer to the T-piece and controller. The system can operate on AC power or its internal battery for up to 45 minutes.
Connect the nebulizer to the inspiratory limb of the breathing circuit and perform a leak test. Secure the controller with the universal mounting bracket.
For doses ≤ 3 mL, initiate a 15-minute cycle. For doses > 3 mL, initiate a 30-minute cycle.
For face mask use, connect the mask and elbows to the nebulizer. For mouthpiece use, connect the nebulizer to the T-piece and then to the mouthpiece.
Perform a functional test before first use and between patients by inspecting parts, adding saline, and verifying operation with the controller.
Ensure the system is operational by checking indicator lights and aerosol visibility. Verify battery operation and discard any remaining liquid before patient use.
Components must be cleaned, disinfected, and sterilized before first use. Manual cleaning involves disassembling parts, washing with detergent, and rinsing. Disinfection uses approved agents, and sterilization can be done via steam or hydrogen peroxide gas plasma.
Use disinfectant wipes for cleaning. Do not autoclave or immerse in liquid.
Address common issues like low battery or connection errors by recharging, cleaning, or checking connections. Contact Aerogen for persistent issues.
The nebulizer has a one-year warranty, and the controller and adapter have a two-year warranty. The controller is validated for 1460 doses, and the nebulizer for 730 doses and 26 autoclave treatments.

1. The nebuliser holds up to 10 mL of liquid medication. The nebuliser is translucent to allow visual monitoring of medication levels and aerosolisation. When the nebuliser is connected into the breathing circuit, the filler cap can be opened or removed from the nebuliser without causing loss of circuit pressure. System Warnings Read and study all instructions before using the Aerogen Pro System and accessories. Only trained medical personnel should operate the device. During use observe for correct functioning of the nebuliser by regularly verifying aerosol is visible and no flashing indicator lights. Do not use a filter or heat-moisture exchanger (HME) between the nebuliser and patient airway. Do not attach a continuous supply of medication to the nebuliser; the device operates in 15 or 30 minute cycles. Inspect all parts before use, and do not use if any parts are missing, cracked or damaged. In case of missing parts, malfunction or damage, contact your sales representative. Do not immerse or autoclave the controller or AC/DC adapter. Disassemble all parts before autoclaving. Use only with components specified by Aerogen. Assembly & Installation Aerogen Pro System Set-Up Clean and sterilise the nebuliser and T-piece(s) as described in the Cleaning, Disinfection and Sterilisation section of this manual. Connect the Aerogen Pro controller and the nebuliser together using the controller cable (Figure 4). Figure 4. The Aerogen Pro can be battery-operated for portable applications. The rechargeable battery can power the System for up to 45 minutes when fully charged. In the case of AC power failure the controller will automatically switch to battery operation. Note: Allow a minimum of four hours for the internal battery to fully recharge. Note: To ensure uninterrupted operation of the Aerogen Pro, secure both the AC/DC adapter cable and the controller cable so they cannot become disconnected during treatment. Installation for use with a Ventilator Connection to a Breathing Circuit 1.
