Invasive ventilation is used to assist or replace breathing when a person is unable to breathe adequately on their own. Additionally, in recent decades, Heat and Moisture Exchange (HME) devices have been employed increasingly for short-term use in anesthesia and long-term use in intensive care units. Our venting filter media are specifically developed for devices which are in common use in the treatment of patients with respiratory disorders. These filters offer protection by removing bacteria and viruses before they enter the patient's airway, bringing thus a crucial contribution in the...

The use of a hydrophobic media as a venting and respiratory filter is necessary to provide excellent barrier to airborne microbial contaminants. Ahlstrom-Munksjo microglass filter media are manufactured from an advanced blend of borosilicate microglass fibers and acrylic resins PFOA-free. Our concept is to manufacture media in all efficiency ranges of interest- efficiencies from 99.90 % to 99.9999 % for 0.3 pm particle size - especially designed for CPAP and mechanical venting filters. Only high purity borosilicate glass fibers are employed, in thicknesses ranging from 0.2 to 2.0 pm,...

The filters with a pleated, hydrophobic mechanical filter membrane give the highest possible protection against contamination of the breathing system. Gard has such a mechanical membrane and is therefore very suitable. Bacstop and Bacstop Mini have an electrostatic filter membrane with a slightly lower filtration efficiency. Bacstop and Bacstop Mini will give sufficient protection during treatments that have low risks for contamination. The Gard models have several combinations of ISO connectors. The filters are available with a capnograph port. Bacstop Specification Bacstop Mini...

The combination of a filter and aHME in the same housing is the ultimate solution for efficient microbial protection and humidification. Combigard is a combination of the excellent mechanical filter with the effective HME. Bacstop/HME is suitable for the treatments with lower risk for contamination but still with an effective humidification. The Combigard models have several combinations of ISO connectors. The filters are available with a capnograph port. Bacstop Humni Specification

The HME inserts in the transparent housings are of 2 component micro-fibers and give a very low resistance. The resistance is low even after24 hours use. Together with an optimum moisture capacity it keeps the patient hydrated and the breathing system dry. The HMEs are available in a variety of sizes from Neogard for neonatal to HME Flex for adults.
