Worldwide there were 1,2 million and in Europe 340.000 new CRC cases estimated in 2008. The earlier CRC – or its early stages – are found, the higher are the chances the disease may be cured. According to European Diagnostic Manufacturers Association's (EDMA) CRC Factsheet in 2010, the 5 year survival rate in CRC is 95% when detected in stage 1 – but only 6% in stage 4.
