QuikRead FOB quantitative Prefilled Cuvettes

Product catalog summary
Overview: The document discusses the QuikRead® FoB quantitative test, an immunological method for detecting faecal occult blood (FOB), particularly useful for identifying lower gastrointestinal tract bleeding. This test is crucial for early detection of colorectal cancer (CRC), which is a leading cause of cancer deaths in Europe.
Specifications: The QuikRead® 101 instrument displays quantitative FOB results. The test is reliable, providing reproducible results within a range of 100-1000 ng/ml. Results below 100 ng/ml are considered negative. The test is quick, with a completion time of less than 2 minutes, and easy to use, requiring no special training.
Procedure: The test involves a simple procedure: removing the foil cover from the cuvette, adding the FOB reagent, and then adding three drops of the sample. The cuvette is then placed back into the measurement well, and results are displayed within 1 minute.
Standards and Recommendations: The European Group on Tumor Markers (EGTM) recommends using a quantitative, immunological FOB test, allowing clinicians to set the cut-off value. The test eliminates dietary restrictions prior to sampling by reacting only with human globin.
Product Information: The QuikRead FoB quantitative kit includes prefilled cuvettes for 50 tests, a sampling set, and a positive control. The product is manufactured by Orion Diagnostica Oy, based in Finland.
Key Benefits: The test is reliable, quick, and easy to use, with built-in calibration and convenient home sampling. It supports early detection of CRC, significantly improving survival rates when detected early.

Colorectal Cancer (CRC) is the most common newlydiagnosed cancer in Europe causing second most of all cancer deaths. Worldwide there were 1,2 million and in Europe 340.000 new CRC cases estimated in 2008. The earlier CRC – or its early stages – are found, the higher are the chances the disease may be cured. According to European Diagnostic Manufacturers Association's (EDMA) CRC Factsheet in 2010, the 5 year survival rate in CRC is 95% when detected in stage 1 – but only 6% in stage 4. The intestinal physiological bleeding is considered to be within 0,5-1,0 ml a day and in such cases the FOB test...
