Product Care Guidelines for Intraoral Camera System
Introduction
This document provides care and maintenance instructions for the Polaris Intraoral Camera System to ensure its longevity and proper functioning.
Prohibited Actions (DON’Ts)
  • Do not autoclave the Polaris device.
  • Avoid spraying the handpiece directly with liquids.
  • Do not rinse or immerse the handpiece in any liquids.
  • Prevent liquids from entering the internal circuitry.
  • Avoid using prohibited chemicals or solutions such as CaviWipes™, CaviCide™, DisCide Ultra, Opti-Cide ³®, ammonia, ammonium chloride, benzene, denatured alcohol, ethanol, ethylene glycol monobutyl ether, glutaraldehyde, isopropyl alcohol (higher than 70%), iodine solutions, Lysol®, methyl ethyl ketone, and phenol-based compounds.
Recommended Actions (DO’s)
  • Always use a camera sheath as the primary method of infection control, replacing it for each patient.
  • Wipe the handpiece with a moistened cloth using warm water or approved solutions like Birex® and 70% isopropyl alcohol.
  • Allow the handpiece to air dry completely before placing it in a sheath.
  • Spray cleaning cloths instead of the handpiece directly.

Let handpiece air dry completely before placing in sheath. Always use Camera Sheath (See note.) Note: The sheath is the primary method of infection control and a new one must be used on each patient.
