PUREPOINT® Laser System Overview

The PUREPOINT® Laser is a 532 nm green laser designed for ophthalmic applications, offering advanced control features such as voice confirmation of settings, multifunction footpedal control, and EnGauGE® RFID technology for automatic device recognition and setting adjustments. It supports dual laser ports for simultaneous device connections, enabling quick switching between endoprobe and Laser Indirect Ophthalmoscope (LIO).

Laser Probes

RFID Laser Probes

• Curved and straight probes with precise fiber centering and plastic handpieces for tactile feedback

• Flexible tip probes with 40° bend angle for peripheral retina access

Indications for Use

The CONSTELLATION® Vision System with PUREPOINT® Laser is indicated for anterior and posterior segment ophthalmic surgeries, including:

• Retinal photocoagulation for vascular and structural retinal/choroidal abnormalities (e.g., diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, retinal tears/detachments)
• Iridotomy/Iridectomy for glaucoma treatment
• Trabeculoplasty for open-angle and refractory glaucoma
• Other laser treatments such as internal sclerostomy, lattice degeneration, retinal vein occlusion, suturelysis, and vascular/pigment skin lesions

Contraindications and Precautions

• Not suitable for patients with conditions preventing visualization of target tissue (e.g., cloudy cornea, severe aqueous or vitreous haze)
• Potential complications include corneal burns, inflammation, loss of visual acuity or field, and transient intraocular pressure elevations
• Unintentional retinal burns may occur with excessive laser power or duration
• Use only Alcon-supplied disposables and handpieces to ensure system performance and safety
• Protective eyewear (OD4 or above at 532 nm) is mandatory for all personnel during laser operation
• Closed-loop IOP control system does not replace standard intraoperative IOP assessment; system failures should be suspected if IOP is abnormal
• Leaking sclerotomy may cause postoperative hypotony

• Do not use damaged or compromised sterile packaging
• Minimize illuminator light intensity to avoid fiber damage
• Avoid operating illuminated probes in air at illumination levels above 10 lumens to prevent fiber deformation and high temperatures
