Applications Applikationen PLDD (Percutaneous Laser Disc Decompression) PLDD (Perkutane Laser-DiskusDekompression) In case of a disc prolapse the herniated disc pushes to the nerve root and leads to pain. It may possibly trigger systemic failures such as incontinence or numbness. In worst cases paralysis of the extremities are the result. Dies führt zu Schmerzen und kann ggf. zu systemischen Ausfällen wie Inkontinenz oder Taubheit bis hin zur Lähmung der Extremitäten führen. By use of an imaging system, a puncture needle is inserted into the intervertebral disc. After the needle is positioned, a fibre optics is inserted through the needle. The laser radiation, which is applied via the optical fiber vaporizes liquid (nucleus pulposus) and cures the collagen fibers (anulus fibrosus).
