HEMA LIMIT powders

Product catalog summary
Product Overview:
HEMA LIMIT is an oxidized cellulose-based haemostatic agent available in both powder and flat textile forms. It is designed to arrest bleeding during surgical procedures and is produced through the selective oxidation of high-quality cotton material.
Specifications:
  • Content: 100% Carboxycellulosum calcium (calcium salt of oxidized cellulose).
  • Packaging: Available in plastic bottles with a sprinkler and cover, including an applicator, and double sterile packaging with peel-effect for easy opening.
  • Sterility: Sterilized by gamma irradiation.
  • Dimensions: Available in various sizes ranging from 50 x 50 mm to 100 x 200 mm.
  • Origin: Made in the Czech Republic.
Production Process:
The product is made by oxidizing the alcoholic group on the 6th carbon of cellulose, forming carboxyl groups. These groups are partially neutralized to calcium salt, enhancing the haemostatic and bactericidal effects.
Mechanism of Action:
HEMA LIMIT accelerates blood coagulation by activating Factor VII and thrombocytes. It forms complex polymers with fibrinogen and haemoglobin, stabilizing the fibrinogen network and promoting fibroblast growth and cicatrix formation. Calcium ions aid in protein complex fixation and provide partial analgesic effects.
Special Features:
  • Speeds up the healing process with haemostatic and bactericidal properties.
  • Provides partial pain relief without local anaesthetics.
  • Biocompatible, biodegradable, and hypoallergenic.
  • No adverse reactions reported; fully absorbed within 12-72 hours and eliminated in 21 days.
Applications:
Suitable for various surgical fields including neurosurgery, general surgery, plastic surgery, urological surgery, gynaecological surgery, thoracic and vascular surgery, stomatology, and veterinary applications. It is also effective in ambulances and endoscopy.
Clinical Experience:
HEMA LIMIT is used to arrest capillary and venous bleeding from parenchymatous organs and resection areas. It is an ideal alternative to collagen-based haemostats and bovine fibrins.

HEMA LIMIT powders HEMA LIMIT How is it made? Hema Limit is produced by selective oxidation of high-quality cotton material (99% of cellulose content at minimum). The process selectivity lies in the fact that predominantly alcoholic group on 6th carbon of basic building unit is oxidized and carboxyl is formed (-COOH), whose content is maintained at 16-24 volume % according to USP. From the chemical point of view it is polyanhydroglucuronic acid (used for Hema Limit matrix), whose acidity is decreased by neutralization to calcium salt (used for powder form). As free carboxyl groups are a carrier...
