Modular Femoral System | AOS Advanced Orthopaedic Solutions (AOS) has a comprehensive approach to the treatment of femoral fractures with its Modular Femoral Nail. The “Mod” Nail allows for multiple surgical femoral nail procedures with a single nail. The color coded Inserts allow the AOS nail to be used for: Antegrade (Gold) Retrograde/Supracondylar (Green) Reconstruction (Purple) Standard (Blue) Threaded (Pink) The inserts have identical overall dimensions but contain various screw hole configurations. The antegrade (gold) insert has one screw hole angled at 135 degrees. The retrograde/supracondylar (green) insert has one cross locking hole and one slot. The reconstruction (purple) insert has two holes that are also angled 135 degrees into the femoral head. The standard (blue) insert has three cross locking holes. Lastly, the threaded (pink) insert also has three cross locking holes that are threaded for enhanced stability, decrease micro motion and to reduce screw back out. The Modular Femoral Nail is indicated for fractures of the femur including stable and unstable distal metaphyseal fractures, diaphyseal fractures, intra-articular fractures, peri-prosthetic fractures, non-unions, mal-unions, and for the prophylactic nailing of impending pathological fractures.
