Overview
The torque coil is a highly flexible component designed for high-speed rotation in complex pathways or anatomical structures. It is commonly used in applications such as Intravascular Ultrasound (IVUS), Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) catheters, and atherectomy devices.
Specifications- Types: Available in round and flat types. The round type is suitable for applications requiring high-speed rotation, while the flat type is designed for elongation resistance.
- Layers: The coil can be constructed with either two or three layers.
- Dimensions:
- 2-layer coil: Outer Diameter (OD) ranges from 0.44 to 1.68 mm, with trials extending from 0.30 to 5.17 mm. Inner Diameter (ID) ranges from 0.18 to 1.10 mm, with trials extending from 0.15 to 3.55 mm.
- 3-layer coil: OD ranges from 0.36 to 2.76 mm, with trials extending from 0.36 to 6.05 mm. ID ranges from 0.18 to 1.71 mm, with trials extending from 0.18 to 5.25 mm.
- Filar: 4-18
- Length: Up to 3000 mm
- Auger: The torque coil can be enhanced with a spiral wire, functioning as an Archimedes screw.
Performance Ratings
The performance of the torque coil is rated on a scale from 1 to 5, with 5 indicating the highest applicability. The ratings cover rotation direction, high-speed rotation, flexibility, and elongation resistance.
