The gap closure is automatically imaged every hour for a 17 hour period, from inside a CO2-incubator. This assay is used to study the migration of a cell population after a wound (scratch) has been made in a confluent monolayer of cells. The CytoSMART Omni automatically collects brightfield images of this process. Integrated image analysis algorithms in the CytoSMART Cloud provide information on the gap surface area and closure speed over time, over the full well surface. The highlighted blue areas in the image indicate the empty spaces between the cells, which have been recognized by the algorithm. Both the numerical data and images can easily be extracted after analysis.
