The meniscus is a crescent-shaped, fibrocartilaginous structure located in the knee joint. Each knee has two menisci: the medial meniscus (on the inner side) and the lateral meniscus (on the outer side). • Shock Absorption • Load Distribution • Joint Stability • Joint Lubrication and Nutrition: distribution of synovial fluid, promoting smooth movement and cartilage health. • Proprioception: Contains nerve endings that contribute to joint position sense and balance.

treatment for meniscal injuries. • Total Meniscectomy: The entire meniscus was removed, as it was once considered vestigial, non-essential structure. • Partial Meniscectomy: Only the damaged portion was removed, this was adopted later as the meniscus's importance became more clear. Consequences of Total Meniscectomy: • Increased joint stress and accelerated cartilage wear. • Early-onset osteoarthritis. • Loss of shock absorption, leading to joint instability and dysfunction.

Why Meniscus repair? What does the literature say? Supporting ESSKA Standards in Meniscus Preservation and Patient Recovery ESSKA, a trusted authority in orthopedics, is renowned for its high standards in knee and joint preservation. The ESSKA Meniscus Consensus Project underscores the importance of meniscus preservation to prevent early osteoarthritis, offering evidence-based recommendations. The consensus prioritizes meniscus preservation over partial meniscectomy, as it leads to better long-term outcomes, and suggests that many tears previously considered irreparable may be repairable. Precision MR® Suturing Device-7

Different repair techniques Studies demonstrate no significant differences between all-inside and inside-out meniscal repair techniques across various tested angles. Both methods effectively restore meniscal biomechanics to a state comparable to the native meniscus, making them equally viable for reducing the risk of cartilage degeneration when treating displaced bucket-handle tears of the medial meniscus.[2] However, the all-inside repair technique is gaining popularity due to its advantages, including reduced surgery time and faster recovery. Additionally, research highlights its effectiveness...

Precision MR® - Clinical Evidence A retrospective evaluation conducted in Brazil from 2021 to 2023 assessed the safety and effectiveness of 145 Precision MR® devices used in arthroscopic knee surgeries. The study included 47 patients with knee injuries, encompassing those with anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tears combined with meniscus tears, as well as isolated meniscus injuries.

Study Results Summary: • Activity Level: o 64% of ACL patients returned to or exceeded their pre-injury activity levels, o 43% of meniscus patients maintained or improved their pre-injury activity levels. • Clinical Recovery (Lysholm Scale): o ACL patients averaged 75 points, with 41% achieving good to excellent outcomes. o Meniscus patients showed 36% reaching good to excellent levels. • Overall Knee Function (IKDC Scale): o ACL patients scored an average of 65/100, reflecting favorable recovery, o Meniscus patients scored an average of 43/100.

Precision MR® Suturing Device-12

Diagnosis and Case Description • Patient: Male, Age 26, Amateur basketball player • Diagnosis: Combined ACL tear with horizontal tear in the posterior horn of the lateral meniscus, located in the white-red zone. • Procedure: ACL reconstruction was performed, along with lateral meniscus repair using all-inside device Precision MR anchored to the popliteal tendon. The procedure was completed by placing one suture on both the superior and inferior meniscal surfaces. Follow-up at 36 months to evaluate recovery and symptom management: • Tegner Score Pre-op: 9 • Lysholm Score: 94, Good daily function....
