Product catalog summary
Product Overview
Hypro-Sorb® O is a natural atelocollagen felt designed for effective haemostasis in ophthalmology and neurosurgery. It is a triangular, resorbable material made from 99.9% crystalline bovine atelocollagen, known for its high tissue biocompatibility and excellent wound healing properties. The product is suitable for use in infected wounds and with medically compromised patients, and it resorbs spontaneously within two to four weeks.
Indications and Benefits
  • Triangular haemostatic felt made from pure, crystalline atelocollagen type I of bovine origin.
  • High degree of tissue biocompatibility with excellent wound healing characteristics.
  • Can be cut to size without losing haemostatic properties.
  • Long shelf life of five years, maintaining safety and sterility.
Properties and Advantages
Hypro-Sorb O is used for drying surgical fields and stopping capillary bleeding, particularly in microsurgery. Unlike cellulose, which is perceived as foreign by animal tissues, atelocollagen is biologically tolerated and non-immunogenic, making it an efficient haemostatic agent.
Mechanism of Action
Haemostasis is triggered by collagen, which, when exposed to blood due to vessel damage, induces coagulation. Hypro-Sorb O enhances this process through its large internal surface area achieved by lyophilization, facilitating rapid haemostasis.
Usage Instructions
  • Apply to the bleeding surface and compress slightly.
  • Most efficient when dry, but can be moistened with blood or saline for shaping.
  • For larger volumes of liquid absorption, use in combination with Hypro-Sorb R haemostatic felt.
Product Specifications
  • Composition: 99.9% crystalline bovine atelocollagen, free of telopeptides.
  • Shelf Life: Five years from production date.
  • Storage: Store between -25°C and +50°C in a dry place, protected from direct sunlight.
  • Size: 5 x 15 mm, available in packs of 20 pieces.
Certification
Hypro-Sorb® O is a Class III medical device, clinically tested and certified by notified body No. 1023, with EC Certificate No. 090627QS/NB/a and EC Design-Examination Certificate No. 090628CN/NB/a.

Hypro-Sorb O-3

Haemostasis with atelocollagen Haemostasis is triggered by a protein called collagen, which is present in the walls of the blood vessels. It is normally isolated from direct contact with the blood by internal endothelium. However, if a blood vessel wall is damaged by an injury or contusion, collagen comes into contact with the blood, whereby haemostasis is induced so as to minimize blood loss. The activation of haemostasis by Hypro-Sorb O drying triangles occurs in a heterogeneous system consisting of a liquid phase – blood – and a solid phase – atelocollagen. The rate, or reaction kinetics,...
