Hypro-Sorb® O

Product catalog summary
Overview: Hypro-Sorb® O is a medical device designed for effective haemostasis in ophthalmology and neurosurgery. It is a triangular, resorbable felt made from pure, crystalline Atelo-Collagen Type I of bovine origin, known for its high tissue biocompatibility and excellent wound healing properties.
Specifications: The product is composed of 99.9% natural, pure, crystalline, resorbable, sterile bovine Atelo-Collagen Type I, free of antigenic telopeptides. It has a shelf life of five years and must be stored between -25°C and +50°C in a dry place, protected from direct sunlight.
Indications and Usage: Hypro-Sorb O is used for haemostasis and drying in surgical fields, particularly in ophthalmology and neurosurgery. It is effective in drying the surgical field and stopping capillary bleeding, facilitating the surgeon's work, especially in microsurgery. The product can be cut to size without losing its haemostatic properties and resorbs spontaneously within two to four weeks.
Advantages: Compared to cellulose-based materials, Atelo-Collagen Type I is non-immunogenic and biologically tolerated by tissues, providing efficient haemostasis and drying. Its hydrophilic nature and large internal surface area, achieved through lyophilization, enhance its haemostatic effect.
Haemostasis Mechanism: Haemostasis is triggered by collagen, which, when in contact with blood due to vessel damage, induces coagulation to minimize blood loss. The process involves the formation of fibrin fibers and coagulates, facilitated by enzymes like thrombin and transglutaminase FXIIIa.
Handling Instructions: Hypro-Sorb O should be applied to the bleeding surface and compressed slightly. It is most efficient when dry but can be moistened with blood or saline for shaping. For larger volumes of liquids, it is advisable to use in combination with a sponge or Hypro-Sorb R haemostatic felt.
Product Information: Hypro-Sorb O is available in triangular felt form, with dimensions of 5 x 15 mm, and is packaged in quantities of 20 pieces. It is a Class III medical device, clinically tested and certified by notified body No. 1023.

Hypro-Sorb® O-3

Haemostasis with Atelo-Collagen Type I Haemostasis is triggered by a protein called collagen, which is present in the walls of the blood vessels. It is normally isolated from direct contact with the blood by internal endothelium. However, if a blood vessel wall is damaged by an injury or contusion, collagen comes into contact with the blood, whereby haemostasis is induced so as to minimize blood loss. The activation of haemostasis by Hypro-Sorb O drying triangles occurs in a heterogeneous system consisting of a liquid phase – blood – and a solid phase – Atelo-Collagen Type I. The rate, or reaction...
