Product catalog summary
Introduction to Joint Vibration Analysis (JVA):
Bio-JVA Joint Vibration Analysis is a diagnostic tool based on the principles of motion and friction. It measures vibrations produced by joint surfaces, which can indicate disorders when surfaces become rough due to degeneration or displacement.

Functionality and Benefits:
JVA provides a non-invasive, quick, and repeatable method to assess TMJ (temporomandibular joint) function. It is particularly useful in treatments affecting mandibular positioning, such as TMD treatment, orthodontics, reconstruction, and sleep dentistry. The system allows clinicians to evaluate the impact of treatments on TMJ function efficiently.

Performance Specifications:
  • Bandpass: 25 Hz to 10,000 Hz
  • Frequency Resolution: < 4.0 Hz
  • Input Amplitude: 0.0 to 0.5 KiloPascals
  • Amplitude Resolution: 0.2 Pascal
  • Integral Range: 0.15 Pascal
  • Recording Time: 10 seconds to 3 minutes
  • Time Resolution: 0.5 millisecond
  • Common Mode Rejection Ratio: > 120 dB

Data and System Requirements:
  • Data Channels: Right and left joint vibrations, optional vertical and lateral positions
  • Operating System: Windows NT or later
  • Hardware: PCMCIA slot for laptops, PCI slot for desktops
  • Internet: High-speed connection recommended

BioJVA Brochure-3

Joint Vibration Analysis is based on simple principles of motion and friction: When smooth surfaces rub together, little friction is created...and little vibration. If these surfaces become rough, then friction and vibration are created when these surfaces articulate. Human joints have surfaces which rub together in function. Smooth, well lubricated surfaces in a proper biomechanical relationship produce little friction and little vibration. But surface changes, such as those caused by degeneration, tears, or displacements of the disk, generally produce friction and vibration. Different disorders...
