CompactDry

Product catalog summary
Overview: CompactDry is a ready-to-use method designed to minimize microbial testing time and enhance quality control processes. It utilizes dehydrated, selective, and chromogenic media for total count and microbial species identification, applicable to raw materials, processed food products, cosmetics, and environmental surfaces.
Features: CompactDry plates have a sealed lid to prevent cross-contamination and a rigid structure for easy handling and stacking. The testing process involves dispensing a sample onto the plate, which diffuses to form a gel, followed by incubation and colony counting.
Product Variants:
  • CompactDry EC: Detects E. coli and coliform bacteria using chromogenic substrates. Incubation at 35 ± 2 °C or 37 ± 1 °C for 24 ± 2 hours. E. coli forms blue colonies, while total coliforms are red and blue.
  • CompactDry ETB: Identifies Enterobacteriaceae with red/purple colonies. Incubation at 37 ± 1 °C for 24 ± 2 hours.
  • CompactDry LS: Detects Listeria species, forming light blue/blue colonies. Incubation at 35/37 ± 2 °C for 24 to 48 hours.
  • CompactDry PA: Targets Pseudomonas aeruginosa, forming red colonies with a greenish-yellow halo. Incubation at 34 - 36 °C for 48 ± 3 hours.
  • CompactDry TC: For total viable bacterial count, with red colonies due to tetrazolium salt. Incubation at 35 ± 1 °C or 30 ± 1 °C for 48 ± 3 hours.
  • CompactDry X-SA: Detects Staphylococcus aureus with light blue/blue colonies. Incubation at 35 ± 2 °C or 37 ± 1 °C for 24 ± 2 hours.
  • CompactDry YM: Differentiates yeasts and molds through color and morphology. Incubation at 25 ± 1 °C for 3-7 days. Yeasts form blue or white colonies, molds form cottony colonies.
Ordering Information: Each product variant is available in packages of 20 or 100 plates, with specific product numbers for ordering.
Contact Information: Scharlab provides contact details for their offices in Spain, Italy, and the Philippines for customer support and inquiries.

Compact Dry™ Scharlab CompactDry YM for yeast and mould CompactDry YM differentiates yeasts and mould through characteristic colour development and morphology. The medium contains the chromogenic enzyme substrate X-Phos which results in blue yeast colonies. Moulds form “cotton wool” colonies with a characteristic colour. Antibiotics inhibit the growth of bacteria. The CompactDry YM facilitates very good 3-dimension growth of yeast and mould.
