Product catalog summary
Description: The PMF5000 series mass air flow sensors are designed for portable medical devices, offering fast and accurate gas delivery in pulse mode. They feature a compact design suitable for space-constrained environments and customizable flow direction. The sensors utilize Posifa's third-generation thermal flow die, providing excellent signal-to-noise ratio and repeatability, with a solid-state thermal isolation structure that resists clogging and pressure shock. Available in analog (PMF5000V) and digital (PMF5000D) versions, the sensors are used in FAA approved, FDA cleared, and CE certified devices.
Maximum Ratings: Operating temperature ranges from -25 to 85 °C, with a calibrated range of 0 to 50 °C. Storage temperature is -40 to 90 °C, and humidity tolerance is 0 to 100% RH, non-condensing. The sensors can withstand a shock of 100 g peak and a common mode pressure of 10 psi.
Features: The PMF5000 series offers robust performance with a solid-state sensing core, high accuracy (4% reading typical), fast response time (5 ms typical), linear output, temperature compensation, and long-term stability. They include elbow barb fittings, a wiring harness with a pre-installed receptacle, and customizable flow direction. The sensors provide analog or digital I2C output.
Specifications: The series includes models PMF5006, PMF5007, PMF5008, and PMF5009, with flow rates ranging from 0 to 60 SLM. Output voltage ranges from 1 to 5 VDC, with a null voltage of 0.95 to 1.05 VDC. The sensors have a resolution of 12 bits, a response time of 5 ms, and a warm-up time of 30 ms. They operate on a supply voltage of 6 to 16 VDC and a supply current of 22 mA at 10 VDC.
Flow Rate Calculation: For PMF5000V, the flow rate is calculated as [(Vout - 1 V) / 4 V] x Full Scale Flow Rate. For PMF5000D, it is [(Count - 64) / 3967] x Full Scale Flow Rate.
Electrical Connection: The sensors use TE 104257-4 or equivalent connectors, with specific pin configurations for PMF5000D and PMF5000V models.
Ordering Information: The series includes models PMF5006V, PMF5007V, PMF5008V, and PMF5009V, with varying flow rates and linear output specifications.
European Distributor: BS-rep GmbH, located in Weibern, Germany, is the European distributor for the PMF5000 series.

posifa Imicrosystems PMF5000 SeriesMASS AIR FLOW SENSOR FOR MEDICAL DEVICES DESCRIPTION Posifa designed the PMF5000 series of mass air flow sensors specifically for portable medical devices. The sensor is fast and accurate, enabling the precise amount of gas to be delivered in a pulse mode. The sensor's small footprint fits nicely inside a space-constrained housing. The stress-relieved wiring harness with pre-installed receptacle provides reliable electrical connection to the circuit board. The flow direction (forward or backward) can be customized to work with an existing system layout. PMF5000 features Posifa's third-generation thermal flow die, benefiting from the latest innovations in microfabrication. The sensor die uses a pair of thermopiles to detect changes in temperature gradient caused by mass flow, delivering excellent signal-to-noise, and unsurpassed repeatability. The "solid state” thermal isolation structure on the sensor die eliminates the need for surface cavity or fragile membrane used in competing technologies, making the sensor resistant to clogging and pressure shock. The PMF5000 series includes an analog version PMF5000V and a digital version PMF5000D that supports the I2C protocol. The PMF5000 series is a proven product that has been used in quantity in FAA approved, FDA cleared, and CE certified medical devices. posifa Imicrosystems PMF5000 Series MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR FOR MEDICAL DEVICES For PMF5000V Flow Rate = [(Vout - 1 V) / 4 V] x Full Scale Flow Rate For example, for PMF5006V full scale flow rate is 15 SLM. When Vout reads 3 V, the Flow Rate is: [(3 V - 1 V)/4V x 15 SLM] =7.5 SLM For PMF5000D Flow Rate = [(Count - 64) / 3967] x Full Scale Flow Rate For example, for PMF5006V full scale rate is 15 SLM. When digital output reads 1000, the Flow Rate is: [(1000 - 64)/3967 x 15 SLM] = 3.54 SLM 1925 ZANKER ROAD | SAN JOSE CA 95112 | USA TEL. +1-650-646-5788 WWW.POSIFAMICROSYSTEMS.COM | EMAIL: [email protected]...
