ENDO SMARTCAP™ ENDO SMARTCAP adapter #100140 For connecting 100150 / 100150U disposable tubing to OLYMPUS® 140 / 160 / 180 / 240 / 260 Series GI Endoscopes Intended Use: The ENDO SMARTCAP adapter is intended to be used with an air or CO2 and / or pump along with a sterile water source to supply air or CO2 and sterile water to a GI endoscope during endoscopic procedures. Guidelines for Preventing Cross Contamination: • ALWAYS prime the air / water channel prior to inserting the GI endoscope into patient. • NEVER attach or reattach the ENDO SMARTCAP® disposable tubing to a GI endoscope that is / was inside patient and has not been reprocessed. • ALWAYS close the pinch clip before disconnecting the ENDO SMARTCAP disposable tubing from the GI endoscope. • NEVER turn off the air processor / CO2 while the ENDO SMARTCAP disposable tubing is attached to a GI endoscope. If any of the above prevention guidelines are not followed, or there is any reason to believe that the ENDO SMARTCAP disposable tubing system was contaminated, immediately discard the entire ENDO SMARTCAP disposable tubing and water bottle. Replace with new ENDO SMARTCAP disposable tubing and an unopened sterile water bottle. ALWAYS inspect the GI endoscope’s o-rings and gaskets (air / water button, GI endoscope connection, etc) for damage. Damaged components can result in less than optimal performance of the ENDO SMARTCAP disposable tubing and accessories. The adapter is a reusable device. Daily reprocessing is REQUIRED. Contact customer service for assistance. Federal (USA) law restricts the sale of this device by or on the order of a physician. Instructions for Use (all products): 1. Open the sterile peel pack and remove the ENDO SMARTCAP disposable tubing (#100150 / 100150U). Open a bottle of sterile water (250cc, 500cc, or 1000cc). Drop the weighted tube into the sterile water bottle and firmly tighten the bottle cap to ensure a secure seal. Remove the 24hr label from the pouch and apply it to the bottle of sterile water. Write the date and time on the label. 2. Place the ENDO SMARTCAP disposable tubing, connected to the bottle of sterile water, in the water bottle holder provided. 3. Connect the distal tip of the ENDO SMARTCAP disposable tubing (#100150 / 100150U) to the ENDO SMARTCAP adapter by twisting the tube. 4. Plug the ENDO SMARTCAP adapter directly into the OLYMPUS 140 / 160 / 180 / 240 / 260 GI endoscope. 5. Turn on the air processor or CO2. 6. Prime the channel and test for air and water prior to insertion of the GI endoscope. If the water pressure is low, then ensure that the water bottle is tightly closed. WARNING: To prevent cross-contamination, always prime the air / water channel prior to inserting the endoscope into the patient. 7. If water bottle needs to be replaced, use proper aseptic technique. 8. When the procedure is finished, close the pinch clip and disconnect the ENDO SMARTCAP adapter from the GI endoscope.
