Dorsiflexion Assist DAFO 4.5

Product catalog summary
Key Concept: Dorsiflexion Assist for Low Tone, Weakness; Fair Foot Control
Overview: The Dorsiflexion Assist DAFO 4.5 is designed to provide effective dorsiflexion assistance for patients with hypotonic weakness. It is not suitable for resisting strong plantarflexion or foot fixing. This orthotic device is particularly beneficial for patients with inconsistent foot placement and lack of control during the swing phase of gait.
Features:
  • Provides dorsiflexion assist and enhanced medial/lateral stability to maintain proper foot positioning during the swing phase, preventing excessive supination or pronation.
  • Includes a mild spring that ensures consistent toe pickup without obstructing normal ankle motion during walking.
  • Forefoot closure enhances biomechanical positioning and can be adjusted if necessary.
Recommended Use:
  • For patients lacking consistent foot and ankle control due to weakness or poor proprioception, but not suitable for high tone feet.
  • For those with fair to poor control, especially during the swing phase.
  • For patients with fairly good foot alignment when corrected.
  • For individuals seeking minimal assistance rather than total control and who can function reasonably well without external support.
Specifications:
  • Hindfoot: Moderate, low to normal tone.
  • Forefoot: Moderate, low to normal tone.
  • Ankle: Assists dorsiflexion, provides good medial/lateral stability, not suitable for high tone.
Model Features: The DAFO 4.5 model includes an instep strap, anterior strap, standard padding, and toe rise.
