Accreditation Phantom for Uniformity

Accreditation Phantom for Uniformity

Product catalog summary
Overview: The Accreditation Phantom for Uniformity, Model 551, is designed to assist in the quality control (QC) of ultrasound equipment. It is a compact, cost-effective tool that helps identify issues with ultrasound transducers, which are prone to damage.
Benefits:
  • Easy to transport and store due to its simple, compact design.
  • Cost-effective solution for fulfilling accreditation and routine QC program requirements.
  • Durable materials ensure a long lifespan.
  • Soft phantom material adapts to the shape of most ultrasound transducers.
Importance of QC Program: Regular QC programs are crucial for identifying problems before they affect diagnostic outcomes. Transducers are the most common point of failure in ultrasound systems, often due to physical damage. Accreditation programs recommend testing all scanners and transducers semiannually, with at least annual testing for image uniformity and artifact surveys.
Product Features: The Model 551 phantom is made from Z-SkinTM, a durable and elastic material that conforms to various transducer shapes. It helps detect lateral and axial streaks (artifacts), indicating potential transducer damage.
Specifications:
  • Dimensions: Ø 11.2 cm x 7.5 cm
  • Weight: 2.2 lbs (1 kg)
  • Materials: Z-SkinTM
  • Includes: 1 Accreditation Phantom for Uniformity, 1 User Guide, 48-Month Warranty
Certifications: The product is certified by UL DQS Inc. to ISO 9001:2008 standards.
Usage: The phantom is used with both linear and curved array transducers to ensure uniformity and detect any dead elements in ultrasound imaging.

Accreditation Phantom for Uniformity-1

Accreditation Phantom for Uniformity Model 551 ESSENTIAL COMPONENT OF A ROUTINE QC PROGRAM A continuous QC program identifies problems before they impact the diagnostic value of ultrasound exams and assures equipment is functioning properly. Research has demonstrated that the most common failure in the ultrasound imaging system is the transducer as they are easily damaged by stress, dropping and kinked cables1. Accreditation programs now recommend all scanners and all transducers be tested semiannually and must be tested at least annually by performing an image uniformity and artifact survey2 as a part of the annual survey. The CIRS Model 551, Accreditation Phantom for Uniformity, aids appropriately trained personnel in identifying the presence of lateral and/or axial streaks, i.e. artifacts, on any ultrasound transducer. Presence of artifacts is an indication of transducer damage and triggers corrective action. Benefits • Simple, compact design makes phantom easy to transport and store • Cost-effective solution to fulfill accreditation Routine QC Program requirements • Durable materials for extended phantom life • Soft phantom material conforms to shape of most ultrasound transducers 1. Z-Skin is durable enough to withstand the probe pressure to maintain coupling with all the elements of even the tightest curvilinear arrays. 2428 Almeda Avenue Suite 316 • Norfolk, Virginia 23513 • USA Tel: 800.617.1177 • 757.855.2765 • Fax: 757.857.0523 WWW.CIRSINC.COM Tissue Simulation & Phant
