Air Pocket Issues:

Light spots in or near the center of the sheet may indicate leaks in the door gasket, probe throughput, ventilator, or pipe joints.
Insufficient vacuum may also be a cause.
Service may be needed to address these issues.

Over Sterilization:

Occurs when the temperature is too high relative to the pressure, or the exposure time is too long, or both.

Wet Steam or Non-Condensable Gases:

Presence of spots, figures, or circle-formed figures in the center may indicate low pressure or temperature, or both.
Insufficient drying can also be a factor.
Steam may contain non-condensable gases, most often carbon dioxide.

Test Approval:

Uniform black/dark brown color in a 134°C cycle indicates approval.
Uniform black/dark grey color in a 121°C cycle also indicates approval.
