Surgical Technique
  1. Step 1: Incision and Exposure - Make an incision lateral to the calcaneus, parallel to the peroneal tendons, and expose the calcaneus while protecting the sural nerve.
  2. Step 2: Osteotomy - Perform an osteotomy through the calcaneus using a saw, with optional use of a CrossRoads cut guide.
  3. Step 3: Drill Fixation Hole - Ensure the posterior fragment is flush and drill the fixation hole using the provided guide.
  4. Step 4: Determine Step Height - Use the depth gauge to determine the proper step height for the implant.
  5. Step 5: Insert Step Staple - Insert the appropriate sized implant and adjust as necessary.
  6. Step 6: Repeat Steps - Repeat for additional fixation points.
Instrumentation
Each kit includes sterile-packaged instruments such as a drill bit, universal threaded handle, depth indicator/tamp, fixation pins, standard step clip, drill guide, and drill/cut guide. The EcoSMART® Instrument Recovery Service offers cost savings by returning instruments post-surgery.
