Industrial Grade NDIR Gas Sensor technical specification

Product catalog summary
Product Overview: This document provides detailed specifications for the Industrial Grade NDIR Gas Sensor, covering the SRH, SJH, SBH, and SBrH series. These sensors use non-dispersive infrared (NDIR) technology to detect gases such as CO2, CH4, C3H8, and CBrH3 in industrial and agricultural environments.
Key Features:
  • Capability to detect multiple gases with digital signal output.
  • Shock-resistant infrared source and diffused gas sampling.
  • Temperature and humidity compensation for enhanced accuracy.
  • Auto zero-calibration and high humidity alert mechanisms.
  • Explosion-proof certification (Ex ia IIC T4 Ga).
Applications:
  • SRH Series: CO2 detection in greenhouses, controlled atmosphere storage, and hydroponics.
  • SJH Series: Methane detection in mines, LNG stations, and fuel transport.
  • SBH Series: Propane detection in LPG stations and refrigerant monitoring.
  • SBrH Series: Bromomethane detection in industrial safety and fumigation.
Technical Specifications:
  • Measurement ranges vary by gas type, with accuracy defined by specific ppm or percentage values.
  • Operating temperature range: -40 to 70°C; storage temperature: -40 to 85°C.
  • Operating voltage: 3.3 to 6.0 VDC; current: 55 to 60 mA.
  • Output types include UART-TTL and DA output.
  • Sensor dimensions and pin configurations are specified for integration.
Principle of Measurement: NDIR sensors operate based on the absorption spectrum of gases in the infrared range, using Lambert-Beer’s Law to determine gas concentration by measuring light intensity attenuation.
Precautions for Use: Users must adhere to specified temperature ranges and use shielded cables. Unauthorized component replacement is discouraged, and compliance with relevant safety standards is required.
Communication Protocol: The document outlines a hexadecimal-based protocol for sensor communication, including commands for checking measurement results, zero adjustment, and user calibration.
Calibration and Data Retrieval:
  • Full Scale Point Calibration: Command: 04 4C [GasNum] [DF1] [DF2] [CS]. Purpose: Calibrate the sensor to the full scale point for a specific gas.
  • Calibration Data Recovery: Command: 11 02 4D [GasNum] [CS]. Purpose: Restore user calibration data to factory settings.
  • Software Version Check: Command: 11 01 1E D0. Purpose: Retrieve the software version number.
  • Instrument Number Check: Command: 11 01 1F CF. Purpose: Output the instrument's serial number.
  • Gas Measurement Property Check: Command: 11 01 0D E1. Purpose: Check measurement range, gas type, and unit.
  • Auto Baseline Calibration Parameter: Check Command: 11 01 0F DF. Set Command: 11 07 10 [DF1] [DF2] [DF3] [DF4] [DF5] [DF6] [CS]. Purpose: Check and set auto baseline calibration parameters.

Principle of Measurement Non-dispersive Infrared (NDIR) Principle Molecule like CO2 and CH4 is composed of different types of atoms, it has absorption spectrum in infrared range. Absorption intensity abides by Lambert-Beer’s Law. When light wave corresponded to certain gas with absorption spectrum passes through measured gas, the intensity of light wave will be significantly weakened. The intensity attenuation is related to concentration of measured gas. This relation follows Lambert-Beer’s Law. Basic working principle of NDIR sensor is as below. Basic mathematical model : A majority of both...
