DiaMRSA System Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus for qualitative DiaMRSA is an in vitro test for rapid qualitative real-time PCR based detection of methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) in clinical samples. The kit is a CE marked IVD approved diagnostic test validated against DNA of reference materials. MRSA is a strain of the bacterium Staphylococcus aureus having developed resistance to beta-lactam antibitiotics including methicillin. This resistance acts as the cause of widespread infections in patients with open wounds, invasive medical devices and weakened immune systems. MRSA is especially troublesome in hospital related (nosocomial, hospital acquired HA-MRSA) and community related (community acquired CA-MRSA) typical infections. Test principle DiaMRSA reagent system is validated for qualitative diagnostics of MRSA in clini- cal (HA) and community (CA) samples and can be used on any real-time PCR platform possessing with minimum three detection channels. The primer-probe pairs included are specific to unique sequences encoding the resistance factor PBP2' (mecA) of MRSA germs and the 16S rRNA of Staphylococcus aureus. Detection of 10 GU/ml, genome equivalent chromosomal MRSA DNA per ml of pre-enriched samples. The DiaMRSA kit is designed to coamplify specific Staphylococcus aureus 16S rRNA genomic sequences and the methicillin-resistance gene mecA together with regula- tory elements to increase selection of functional active microbes with 99% specificity.
