MiniFix is an external minifixator designed for stabilizing fractures in small skeletal regions, particularly the hand and foot. It includes Kirschner wires sized between 1.1 and 1.6 mm, suitable for metacarpal/metatarsal bones and phalanxes. The set features mini clamps with single or double configurations, allowing for versatile assembly during surgical procedures to ensure stability in fracture reduction.
Components Description
Clamps: The clamps are 10x5x5 mm parallelepipeds with two holes (2 mm and 4 mm) for connecting wires and rods. Locking nuts secure the assembly, and a 2.5 mm hex key is used for closure.
Stabilization Rods: These rods connect clamps to ensure mechanical stability, available in 2 mm diameter and lengths of 50 or 60 mm.
Intrabone Wires: Available in sizes 1.1, 1.4, and 1.6 mm with a length of 155 mm, these wires can be threaded for specific applications.
General Information
For effective fracture stabilization, mechanical principles must be considered. Intrabone wires can be inserted post-reduction or used to achieve reduction. Two parallel wires per bone fragment are recommended for rotational stability.
Application Examples
Metacarpals: Examples include subcapital fractures of the fifth metacarpal and fractures of the thumb base.
Phalanxes: Examples include fractures of the first phalanx base and mallet finger treatment using Ishiguro technique.
Clinical Cases
Case studies include interphalangeal fractures of the fifth finger, fractures at the metacarpal base of the first finger, and metacarpal fractures of the fifth finger, with preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative imaging.
