Open the catalog to page 1Creatine kinase (CK), a dimeric enzyme appearing in all muscle cells and in the brain, mainly consists of the omers CK-M (muscle) and CK-B (brain). The most abundant isoforms are CK-MM, CK-MB and CK-BB. In healthy individuals almost exclusively CK-MM is responsible for the total activity of CK in serum while the other isoforms occur in traces only. Measurement of CK-MB is a specific test for detection of cardiac muscle damage because of its highly increased proportion in myocardium. It can be detected in serum 1 - 3 hours prior to Troponin. Therefore, it is a sensitive marker for diagnosis...
