Test Principle:
The assay uses an enzymatic cycling technique to amplify the detection signal. Oxidized homocysteine is reduced and reacts with S-adenosylmethionine to form methionine and S-adenosyl homocysteine, which is further processed to amplify the signal. The decrease in NADH is measured at 340 nm, proportional to the homocysteine concentration.

Performance Data:
Method comparison shows a strong correlation with competitor methods, with no interference from elevated cystathionine levels, common in renal failure patients.
