This document outlines a comprehensive care and cleaning plan for dental units, focusing on various components such as compressed air, suction systems, surfaces, instruments, and water pathways. It emphasizes the use of specific disinfectants and cleaners, structured procedures, and adherence to manufacturer recommendations to ensure optimal hygiene and functionality.
Use non-alcoholic disinfectant concentrates and wipes for general surface disinfection. Recommended products include FD 300 and FD 312 for concentrates, and FD 300 top wipes and FD 312 wet wipes for application. Quick-acting disinfectants such as FD 322, FD 333, FD 333 forte, and FD 350 wipes are advised for rapid surface disinfection.
For delicate materials like plastics, vinyl upholstery, displays, and acrylic glass, use specialized surface disinfectants such as FD 366 sensitive wipes and FD 366 sensitive top wipes to prevent damage while ensuring effective cleaning.
Vinyl upholstery should be cleaned and maintained using FD 360 vinyl upholstery cleaner along with FD 366 sensitive wipes to preserve material integrity and hygiene.
Handpieces and other transmission instruments require wipe disinfection using premium wipes such as FD 322 premium wipes, FD 333 wipes, FD 333 forte wipes, and FD 350 disinfection wipes to ensure thorough microbial control.
Intraoral cameras should be disinfected with the same range of wipes used for instruments, including FD 322 premium and top wipes, FD 333 and FD 333 forte wipes, and FD 350 disinfection wipes. Additional products like VistaCam Optik-Cleaner combined with FD multi wipes are recommended for optical components.
Spittoon bowls require regular cleaning using MD 550 spittoon bowl cleaner to maintain hygiene and prevent contamination.
Water pathways in dental units must be disinfected according to the manufacturer's recommendations to ensure safe water quality and prevent biofilm formation.
Disposable yellow filters in the comfort hose manifold should be replaced weekly to maintain system efficiency. Coarse filters on spittoon valves, also yellow, require monthly cleaning or replacement as needed to ensure proper function.
Use specialized cleaners such as MD 555 for suction units and disinfect with products like OroCup or Hygosuc to maintain suction system hygiene and performance.
Burs should be disinfected using ready-to-use solutions like ID 220 bur disinfection liquid (2.5 L) to ensure instrument safety and patient protection.
