Product catalog summary
Introduction
The document details the comstop® system by EFE Elektronik, designed to detect and block unauthorized mobile phone usage in sensitive areas like prisons. It offers tailored solutions for various sectors.
Importance of Blocking Mobile Communication
Mobile phones in prisons pose security risks by enabling unmonitored communication and potential interference with electronic equipment.
System Overview
The comstop® system includes detectors, blockers, and alarm servers to monitor and block unauthorized mobile signals. It detects GSM, UMTS, LTE, Bluetooth, and WLAN signals, triggering alarms for unauthorized activity.
Detection and Localization
The system uses detectors to locate active mobile phones and logs unauthorized signals. It cannot detect phones in standby mode.
Blocking Mechanism
Comjam blockers suppress unauthorized communication selectively, minimizing interference with allowed communications.
Technical Background
The system detects uplink signals and blocks downlink signals, requiring real-time detection and adaptability to new standards.
Capabilities and Limitations
While effective in locating active phones, the system's blocking efficiency depends on factors like antenna direction and environmental conditions.
System Configuration
The comstop® system can be standalone or integrated, supporting up to 32 units per bus cable for extensive coverage.
Network Integration
The system integrates with external management systems for event logging and uses conventional network technologies for data recording and remote control.
Specifications
The system includes devices like comstop® mobile plus 4G and comstop® mini, detecting activities across 2G, 3G, 4G networks, and optionally DECT, WLAN, and Bluetooth. They feature alarms, data storage, and are suitable for standalone or integrated use.
Procedures
Devices can be configured for different environments, with options for stationary or mobile use. The comstop® mobile administration program allows device management and data evaluation via PC.
Norms and Standards
The devices meet high standards for secure facility operations, preventing false alarms from authorized devices.
Recommendations
The system is recommended for secure monitoring in environments like prisons or government facilities, with modular configurations for specific needs.
Key Features
  • Detection range up to 40m in open areas and 20m indoors.
  • Data storage with manipulation protection.
  • Expandable options for WLAN and Bluetooth detection.
  • IP67 protection class for certain models.
Accessories and Options
Available accessories include accumulators, directional antennas, and software interfaces for external systems.
EC Declaration of Conformity
The document includes an EC Declaration of Conformity for comstop® products, complying with RoHS, EMC, and R&TTE directives.
Company Information
Contact details for EFE Elektronik are provided, emphasizing their catalogues are informational and not legally binding.
Services and Systems
EFE Elektronik offers services from planning to maintenance, focusing on communication systems for hospitals and safety engineering in the penal system.
Company History
The company has a history of 40 years of operation from 1972 to 2012.

comstop® Mobile phone location and blocking The use of mobile phones has become virtually universal. These devices have many benefits – people are easier to contact and making calls is more convenient – but they also present certain risks. The technology itself is not secure, and the devices can also be used where they are not allowed. Why should mobile communication be blocked ? Mobile phones (GSM/UMTS,LTE) allow prisoners unmonitored contact with the outside world: Calls SMS text messages Data transfer A mobile phone can be used to eavesdrop on other calls Mobile phones can interfere with sensitive...

The comstop® system shortly The use of powerful permanent jamming transmitters generate particularly problems in buildings and are not acceptable. Therefore a novel system was developed by EFE, which consists of the decentralized installed components detectors (comstop®), blockers (comjam) and the centrally positioned alarm servers. - Radio signals transmitted from mobile phones or similar mobile end user devices are permanently monitored by the comstop® system. All determined radio networks are scanned continuously with high resolution. Detected unauthorized radio signals trigger an alarm and...

comstop® background information Modern mobile phones use digital cellular radiation standards of the second, third and fourth generation, amongst others GSM (2G), UMTS (3G) and LTE (4G). The transmitting area is divided into cells of 250 m up to 35 km. Each cell has a central transmitting station (base station). In addition there exist further (also notcellular) radiation standards like e.g. WLAN, Bluetooth or iDEN. The actual use of the single standards in the respective frequency ranges (450 MHz up to 5,8 Gigahertz), is country specific and depends on the regulatory, technical and local realities....

Detection with comstop® , what it can do or cannot do The job of the location finders is to locate a switched-on mobile phone as accurately as possible. Because phones do not transmit signals while they are switched on but not in use, location finding is only possible during a call. Sending or receiving a text message (SMS) is enough to allow identification. Radio waves in the shortwave frequencies used in GSM/UMTS – 900 to 5.900 MHz – move in a straight line like light, and cannot go around corners like sound waves, which are much longer. Unlike light, they can pass through walls, although they...

Blocking with comjam, capabilities and limits Comjam blockers can only be operated together with a comstop® detector system, and need an official operation permission, and if necessary an export permission. High frequency radio waves spread out permanently and do no stop at imaginary limits. No blocking concept can achieve a 100% successful sigal suppression and can guarantee simultaneously areas a complete failure free operation in the "allowed". But with the distributed reactive comstop® blocking system it is possible to achieve the best results. Each project is uniquely, and must be planned...

SINGLE DEVICE INTEGRATION INTO THE EFE CELL MANAGEMENT The cell terminals of the EFE cell management system support the comstop® location finder. comstop® is installed in a flush mounted box, connected to the power supply and linked to an alarm input. This means it is fully integrated in the monitoring and alarm structure of the system as a local alarm signalling device for each cell, and it is handled as another cell alarm in the query and display equipment. This configuration is suitable if the monitoring areas are far away from each other or if multiple indications from a small area can be...

COMSTOP® MOBILE PLUS 4G comstop® mobile plus is a standalone mobile detection and reactive blocker device with good energy efficiency. It uses the same technology as well as the stationary devices and is system compatible. A conversation detected nearby or a SMS will be immediately signalled via LED and an acoustic signal as an alarm. During the alarm frequency range and field strength are indicated on the display. Date, time, duration, frequency and other parameters are manipulation protected stored in an internal memory. These informations can later be read in for evaluation purposes into a...
