comstop® Mobile phone location and blocking The use of mobile phones has become virtually universal. These devices have many benefits – people are easier to contact and making calls is more convenient – but they also present certain risks. The technology itself is not secure, and the devices can also be used where they are not allowed. Why should mobile communication be blocked ? Mobile phones (GSM/UMTS,LTE) allow prisoners unmonitored contact with the outside world: Calls SMS text messages Data transfer A mobile phone can be used to eavesdrop on other calls Mobile phones can interfere with...

The comstop® system shortly The use of powerful permanent jamming transmitters generate particularly problems in buildings and are not acceptable. Therefore a novel system was developed by EFE, which consists of the decentralized installed components detectors (comstop®), blockers (comjam) and the centrally positioned alarm servers. - Radio signals transmitted from mobile phones or similar mobile end user devices are permanently monitored by the comstop® system. All determined radio networks are scanned continuously with high resolution. Detected unauthorized radio signals trigger an alarm...

comstop® background information Modern mobile phones use digital cellular radiation standards of the second, third and fourth generation, amongst others GSM (2G), UMTS (3G) and LTE (4G). The transmitting area is divided into cells of 250 m up to 35 km. Each cell has a central transmitting station (base station). In addition there exist further (also notcellular) radiation standards like e.g. WLAN, Bluetooth or iDEN. The actual use of the single standards in the respective frequency ranges (450 MHz up to 5,8 Gigahertz), is country specific and depends on the regulatory, technical and local...

Detection with comstop® , what it can do or cannot do The job of the location finders is to locate a switched-on mobile phone as accurately as possible. Because phones do not transmit signals while they are switched on but not in use, location finding is only possible during a call. Sending or receiving a text message (SMS) is enough to allow identification. Radio waves in the shortwave frequencies used in GSM/UMTS – 900 to 5.900 MHz – move in a straight line like light, and cannot go around corners like sound waves, which are much longer. Unlike light, they can pass through walls, although...

Blocking with comjam, capabilities and limits Comjam blockers can only be operated together with a comstop® detector system, and need an official operation permission, and if necessary an export permission. High frequency radio waves spread out permanently and do no stop at imaginary limits. No blocking concept can achieve a 100% successful sigal suppression and can guarantee simultaneously areas a complete failure free operation in the "allowed". But with the distributed reactive comstop® blocking system it is possible to achieve the best results. Each project is uniquely, and must be...

SINGLE DEVICE INTEGRATION INTO THE EFE CELL MANAGEMENT The cell terminals of the EFE cell management system support the comstop® location finder. comstop® is installed in a flush mounted box, connected to the power supply and linked to an alarm input. This means it is fully integrated in the monitoring and alarm structure of the system as a local alarm signalling device for each cell, and it is handled as another cell alarm in the query and display equipment. This configuration is suitable if the monitoring areas are far away from each other or if multiple indications from a small area can...

COMSTOP® MOBILE PLUS 4G comstop® mobile plus is a standalone mobile detection and reactive blocker device with good energy efficiency. It uses the same technology as well as the stationary devices and is system compatible. A conversation detected nearby or a SMS will be immediately signalled via LED and an acoustic signal as an alarm. During the alarm frequency range and field strength are indicated on the display. Date, time, duration, frequency and other parameters are manipulation protected stored in an internal memory. These informations can later be read in for evaluation purposes into...
