Rapid Detection of Resistance to Polymyxins

Product catalog summary
Overview: The Rapid Polymyxin NP test is designed for the rapid detection of polymyxin resistance in Enterobacteriaceae. It provides results within a few hours and is reliable regardless of the resistance mechanism. The test is easy to perform, highly specific, and sensitive, with excellent correlation to the reference broth microdilution method.
Principle: The test detects susceptibility and resistance to polymyxins (polymyxin E or Colistin, and polymyxin B) using a colorimetric method. It relies on the rapid glucose metabolization by bacteria in the presence of colistin, leading to acidification of the culture medium and a color change from orange to yellow.
Product Specifications: The test kit includes complete kits with a shelf life of over 12 months. It is a fast and cost-effective approach for detecting polymyxin resistance.
Performance: The test has a sensitivity of approximately 99% and a specificity of approximately 95%.
Availability: The product is not available in the US. For availability in other countries, contact local sales representatives.
Contact Information: ELITechGroup has offices worldwide, including in Serbia, Switzerland, the Netherlands, UK, United States, Australia, Belgium & Luxembourg, Brazil, France, Italy, and New Zealand. Contact details are provided for each location.

Rapid Detection of Resistance to Polymyxins-2

PRINCIPLE The Rapid Polymyxin NP test has been designed for the detection of Enterobacteriaceae susceptibility and resistance to polymyxins (polymyxin E or Colistin, and polymyxin B) from colonies grown on agar plates. This liquid method relies on the colorimetric detection of rapid glucose metabolization associated with bacterial growth in the presence of a defined concentration of colistin. Acidification of the culture medium, consecutive to glucose metabolization, is evidenced by a color change (orange to yellow) of a pH indicator. METHODOLOGY An easy and visual protocol sticked on each test:...
