Clinical Study ONCOERA® Closed System Drug Transfer Devices Smoke Test VIAL ADAPTER VIAL STOPPER - VA104F.20 TEST LAB NANOLAB Laboratories Group Exposure to Hazardous Drugs As the risks associated with occupational exposure to hazardous drugs become increasingly apparent, there is increasing awareness of the methods, procedures and devices involved in the preparation and administration of such drugs. All standards aim to provide healthcare workers with maximum protection, by minimizing the contact of hazardous drugs with the employees and environment. Reputable organizations such as NIOSH (National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health) and ISOPP (The International Society of Oncology Pharmacy Practitioners) recommend the use of closed system drug transfer devices (CSTD), which prevent the escape of toxic drugs and their aerosols into the environment, in addition to the use of personal protective equipment.

Aim The purpose of this study was to evaluate the vapor containment efficiency of ONCOERA® CSTDs, in order to evaluate the airtight sealing properties during the preparation of hazardous drugs. Method Draeger Air Flow Tester Kit was used as a drug substitute simulating normal preparation conditions. Each product was observed during its operation for any release of smoke into the environment.
