Information sheet Gait & balance parameters Gait analysis, general definitions Stride length Stride length is defined as the distance between successive ground contacts of the same foot (left to left, right to right)1,2. Step length is defined as the distance between
the point of initial contact of one foot and the point of initial contact of the contralateral foot1,2. In healthy adults, two steps comprise one stride step length A gait cycle starts when one foot makes contact with the ground and ends when that same foot contacts the ground again. The gait cycle can be split into periods and phases. Most frequently, the gait cycle is divided into two periods, stance and swing. The stance phase is the time during which the foot is in contact with the ground (this period represents 60% of the gait cycle). The swing phase follows the stance period and is the time during which the foot is in the air (this period represents 40% of the gait cycle)1. Stance phase Swinng phase
 (40%) Double support
(10%) Single support A gait cycle (GC) starts with an initial double support phase, during which both feet are in contact with the ground. This phase represents the initial 10% of GC. This phase is followed by a single support phase for the next 40% And a terminal double support phase concludes the stance period with another 10% of the GC. The initial ground contact generally is with the heel (heel-strike) and the propulsion
is with the toes (toe-off) one foot is in single-support phase, the opposite foot is

Gait Analysis : spatio-temporal parameters calculated by FeetMe solutions Stride length : distance between successive ground contacts of the same foot. Velocity (= walking speed = gait speed) : speed at which the patient is walking. Cadence : it is the number of left and right strides per minute. Distance : it is the distance covered by the patient. Stride Counter : it is the total number of strides during the record. Some strides can be removed from the counter (flagged strides that are considered as uncertain, for example if the stride length is not between 5cm and 2m) (number of strides)...

Gait analysis : plantar pressure Plantar pressure : pressure is the amount of force applied perpendicular to the surface of an object. Plantar pressure distribution is represented in various ways in FeetMe solutions outlines represent a map in which plantar pressure Fictitious examples of pressure maps representing plantar pressure that are mainly inward, outward, real-time according to a color gradient. This plantar replayed on the online platform. provide another map which represents the averaged maximum pressure measured by Maximum load (kg, or N) : for each stride, the each sensor over...

Postural assessment (assessment of balance) Plantar pressure : pressure is the amount of force applied perpendicular to the surface of an object. Plantar pressure distribution is represented in various ways in FeetMe solutions : During a static posturography test, on the app, insole outlines represent a map in which plantar pressure distribution will be displayed in real-time according to a color gradient. This plantar pressure distribution can also be replayed on the online platform. l Based on the plantar pressure data, additional metrics are calculated : Bipedal Center of Pressure : the...
