Product catalog summary
Introduction
The document introduces the Fillauer ParaPod, a pediatric solution designed for upright balance training. It is custom-designed for children or small adults, featuring an easy-to-use standing and sitting mechanism and durability for everyday use.
ParaPod Selection Criteria
  • Readiness for Standing: The child should show a desire to stand by pulling on furniture or be developmentally mature enough to stand.
  • Muscle Power: The child lacks sufficient muscle power in the lower extremities and trunk to stand without crutches.
  • Previous Brace Use: The child has either used a Standing Brace or is ready to transition directly to the ParaPod.
  • Size Considerations: Comfortable sitting requires flexing knees and hips.
  • Upper Extremity Evaluation: Coordination and strength should be assessed to ensure effective use of crutches or walkers.
  • Foot and Skin Condition: Evaluate for custom shoes, special padding, and plantar flexion wedges. Check skin, bones, and joints for weight-bearing capabilities.
  • Deformities and Contractures: Assess for device modification needs. Orthopedic surgery and physical therapy may be beneficial.
  • Skin Condition: Check for sores and hypersensitive areas around chest panels, sacral area, and knees.
  • Spinal Deformities: Evaluate for sufficient clear area over the sacrum for buttocks support and potential use of a body jacket.
