Product catalog summary
Introduction
Flexicare, with over 35 years of experience in medical device design and manufacturing, offers a comprehensive guide on male urethral dilatation. This guide aims to provide confidence and support for users undergoing catheterisation and stricture therapy.

Understanding Urethral Stricture
A urethral stricture is a narrowing of the urethra, which can cause difficulty in urination. It may result from infections, trauma, or scarring. Symptoms include a poor urine stream, difficulty urinating, and the need to strain.

Risks of Urethral Dilatation
  • Pain: Initial discomfort is common but should improve over time.
  • Bleeding: Minor bleeding is normal, but heavy bleeding requires medical attention.
  • Infection: Symptoms like cloudy or smelly urine indicate a possible infection.
  • Recurring Stricture: If symptoms return, consult a healthcare professional.

Procedure Overview
Urethral dilatation involves inserting a catheter to stretch the urethra and prevent narrowing. It can be performed at home to reduce the recurrence of strictures and avoid further surgeries.

Step-by-Step Guide
  1. Select a clean environment and wash hands.
  2. Prepare the catheter by activating its hydrophilic coating.
  3. Clean the penis and insert the catheter gently.
  4. Rotate the catheter during removal and ensure proper disposal.

Product Range
Flexicare offers a variety of catheters with different tips to minimize trauma during insertion. These are available through prescription and home delivery services.
