The Formthotics™ top model - 1

The Formthotics™ dierence Formthotics are made by Foot Science International in New Zealand, using a unique design and manufacturing process that ensures the ultimate customisable orthotic. Foam features Antimicrobial Formthotics contain Ultra-Fresh™, which inhibits the growth of bacteria and fungi that create foot odor and staining, keeping your feet healthy. Formthotics are thermoformed (heat moulded) at relatively low temperatures and retain the moulded shape. Moulding an orthotic to the shape of your foot provides a truly customised t. Foam types Support Formax™ Heel cup The deep heel cup provides increased support around the heel, assisting with shock absorption and minimising ground reaction force at heel strike. Functional support The graded medial support ensures the foot is stabilised by providing longitudinal, lateral and transverse arch support. Foot Science International’s own foam is made from a range of high grade ‘closed cell’ foams, designed to provide the most exible, lightweight and supportive orthotic possible. ShockStop Some special Formthotics models are made from this unique foam produced by Foot Science International. Made from a hybrid of EVA and polymer foams to provide maximum shock absorption and cushioning, this minimises the impact on muscles, joints and tendons and eases recovery time after performance. Construction 3D milled Formthotics are 3D milled from a block of foam, ensuring they provide a consistent spread of support across the skeletal system of your foot and any pressure points. Formthotics Custom Medical Orthotics are prefabricated customisable orthotics for medical professionals. Patients love wearing Formthotics They are lightweight and fully exible, providing comfortable dynamic support – they heat mould to the foot, supporting every moment during gait. They’re insulating, waterproof, easily cleaned and hypo-allergenic. Around the world the pain and discomfort in the lower extremity in millions of patients has been eased with Formthotics, aided by good patient compliance. Don’t wait until the next appointment – seek a patient’s immediate relief A patient does not need to wait until their next appointment to have orthotics tted or spend time considering an expensive fully custom lab produced orthotic. Formthotics can be quickly tted within 15 minutes and a clinician can receive immediate patient feedback. Formthotics – “They just work” Clinicians have condence they are using a product proven in research and worn by millions of people worldwide over the past 35 years. With the Formthotics Medical System’s 6 Tests, 6 Steps to assist the assessment, selection and tting of Formthotics, medical professionals from entry to advanced levels trust Formthotics in their practice. Formthotics™ Medical System Get the best results for your patient. A patient centric process of assessment, utilising your expertise to quickly and eectively select, t and adjust Formthotics. The system is a comprehensive clinical method to improve lower limb function with custom-tted Formthotics and includes: Objective clinical tests Select, t and adjust Formthotics Custom Medical Orthotics Test 1: Foot morphology and motion test Step 1. Formthotics selection and tting Relates to the general principles of open kinetic chain foot biomechanics; joint position and passive range of motion. Select the Formthotics model and size - consider foam density and shoe shape and then t Formthotics into the patient’s shoes. Test 2: Alignment test Why are Formthotics Custom Medical Orthotics? The foot and lower limb skeletal alignment is examined in stance to determine if and/or how it compensates when weight bearing. Product catalogue Top models Step 2. Patient adjustment period Allow a 3 to 7 day break-in period for the patient to adapt to Formthotics. Test 3: Windlass (Jack's) test Formthotics heat mould to the patient’s individual shoes and feet Formthotics are very easily customised Formthotics are thermoformable. For the fastest adoption and optimal t to the feet and shoes, we recommend Formthotics are heated with the Formthotics Heating Machine prior to wearing for the rst time or after modication. For small volumes of Formthotics, a hairdryer may be used instead (instructions available). However, Formthotics still mould to the feet for a custom t just by using the natural body heat of the feet and many clinicians nd this acceptable. Quickly and easily modify the underside of Formthotics with rearfoot and/or forefoot modications to change support and therefore, function as the patient requires. There is a range of Formthotics Additions available. Formthotics can be used in a variety of ways Formthotics can be used in many types of shoes, enabling the clinician to customise the t to the activity for that shoe. Saving the patient changing orthoses between shoes ensures the patient is wearing supportive devices for the greatest time possible, not just when, for example, running or playing football. Formthotics can be used for short term relief from an injury in many cases without the patient needing to purchase laboratory-made custom orthoses. Assessment of the windlass mechanism using the ‘Jack’s test’. Looks at the functional dorsiexion range of motion availability of the hallux associated with heel lift and eective propulsion. Formthotics can be used for pathologies that require longer term support and comfort. Test 4: Supination resistance test Formthotics can be used to test whether a change in support shows improvement before possibly providing a laboratory-made custom device later. Relates to the position of weight bearing axis of the subtalar joint. To assess, the clinician manually supinates the foot and grades the force required. “These make me a hero in my practice.” Check the patient’s stance and gait to assess the functional eects of Formthotics while the patient is wearing them in their shoes. Relates to propulsion. The clinician observes the relative ease of rising onto the toes, stability and the tendency of inversion instability. There are 3 options depending on the patient’s strength and balance ability and what is being assessed. Used by millions across the world over the past 35 years, Formthotics are a trusted, consistent high quality device. Formthotics are quick and easy to t. In one visit, the patient can be tted and is able to assess their eectiveness, providing immediate feedback. The forefoot is adjusted by functional posting. The improvement of function should be veried by the patient. Step 5. In-shoe testing Test 6: Neuromotor balance test Formthotics are versatile, assisting treatment of a variety of lower extremity problems. Step 4. Forefoot modication Assesses lumbopelvic postural stability and proximal control systems. The clinician observes the stability of balance, duration of balance, and the loss of balance (medial or lateral). They have told us why: The rearfoot is adjusted by functional modication by way of applying a wedge to the underside of Formthotics. Test 5: Proximal control knee bend test Formthotics are the clinicians’ tool Eective Step 3. Rear foot modication Step 6. Follow up and ongoing adjustment Formthotics should be checked and modied at 3 to 6 month intervals especially in the initial period. Independent, peer reviewed research has proven Formthotics reduce pain, treat and prevent injuries and improve patient comfort.
