Overview: The One Beam is a bilirubinometer developed by GINEVRI for precise measurement of bilirubin levels in newborns using a micro blood sample. It aids in treating newborn jaundice by providing accurate bilirubin levels, crucial for preventing kernicterus, a condition that can cause irreversible brain damage.
Key Features:- Simplicity of Use: Requires only a 60 µl blood sample, which is placed in a capillary tube and centrifuged for 5 minutes.
- Disposable Capillary Tubes: Uses heparinated glass tubes, eliminating the need for expensive and fragile cuvettes.
- Rapid Analysis: The device performs a photometric analysis using wavelengths of 455nm and 575nm to measure bilirubin and correct for haemoglobin interference.
- Automatic Correction: The device automatically compensates for haemoglobin interference using an algorithmic calculation.
Technical Specifications:- Sample Type: Centrifuged blood

Innovations: The One Beam uses a single optical beam for more stable, precise, and stronger signal readings. This system reduces errors and discrepancies by focusing on a single point in the capillary tube.
References: Developed with Roma Tor Vergata University and tested by the Fatebenefratelli General Hospital in Rome.
Consumables: Includes heparinated capillary tubes, sealing wax, and optional thermal paper for the printer.
