Obstetric Emergencies Virtual Reality Clinicians need to be able to identify and manage a patient experiencing some of the most common Obstetric Emergencies (Maternal Code, Hypertensive Crisis and Maternal Sepsis). Health Scholars’ courses enable learners to practice a fast paced, life threatening scenarios in a safe and risk-free environment. Recognize the need to properly position the patient and bed to preform highquality CPR Maternal Code: Initiate correct managements for the initial arrest of a pregnant patient including initiating a perimortem cesarean section within four minutes of recognized maternal cardiac arrest Hypertensive Crisis: Identify and manage an emergent hypertensive crisis and subsequent eclamptic seizure effectively and in a timely fashion Maternal Sepsis: Identify and manage a pregnant patient who is developing sepsis. Communicate effectively with a multidisciplinary team of anesthesiologists, obstetricians, and nurses during patient management for and suggest the use of the delivery of posterior arm ◆ This application models 3 different patients experiencing 3 different obstetric emergencies: (Maternal Code, Hypertensive Crisis, and Maternal Sepsis) in realistic birthing room environments. ◆ Each of these scenarios occur in real time to emphasize the need to make crucial medical management decisions rapidly and to act as an effective team leader in these emergency situations. ◆ Each of the 3 scenarios take as little as 6 minutes to complete. ◆ Provides a virtual, zero-risk, environment to practice and learn critical obstetric hemorrhage management skills. ◆ Provides learners a readiness score, determined by assessing core competencies throughout the simulation. ◆ Health Scholars’ patent-pending voice technology. ◆ VR simulation can offer learner 24/7 accessibility which allows for more frequent, independent practice. ◆ Delivers in application debriefs to reinforce key learning objectives.
