PASS & RACE Virtual Reality The PASS and RACE Fire Safety Virtual Reality (VR) simulation is designed to validate and refresh required competencies requisite for all clinicians in managing a fire using the RACE and PASS fire safety acronyms. Describe what the PASS acronym stands for: Pull, Aim, Squeeze, Sweep Demonstrate how to operate a fire extinguisher using PASS Describe what the RACE acronym stands for: Rescue; Alarm; Confine; Evacuate/Extinguish Direct team members to respond appropriately to a fire using the RACE acronym Demonstrate closed-loop communication with teammates in the simulation It takes the average learner as little as 10 minutes to complete both the PASS and RACE scenarios. PASS and RACE Fire Safety builds on Health Scholars existing suite of Operating Room applications including Fire in the OR, but can be utilized across the entire healthcare system. Capabilities ◆ Realistically simulate an operating room fire in a clinical setting ◆ Users learn and practice the PASS and RACE acronyms then follow up with realistic simulations for both scenarios ◆ Provides a virtual, zero-risk, environment to practice and learn critical patient fire management skills ◆ Provides learners a readiness score, determined by assessing core competencies throughout the simulation ◆ Health Scholars’ patent-pending voice technology ◆ VR simulation can offer learner 24/7 accessibility which allows for more frequent, independent practice ◆ Delivers in application debriefs to reinforce key learning objectives
