Product catalog summary
Overview: This document is a technical catalog from Herolab GmbH Laborgeräte, providing comprehensive details on centrifuge labware, including specifications, materials, guidelines, and compatibility notes. It covers selection guides, material descriptions, ordering information, and compatibility with other manufacturers' rotors.
1. Selection Guide:
  • Volume: Selection is based on sample size, rotor bores, and necessary adapters.
  • Chemical Resistance: Materials are rated as satisfactory (S), marginal (M), or unsuitable (U) for various chemical groups.
  • Thermal Resistance: Materials are rated for specific temperature ranges, indicating suitability for low and high temperatures.
  • Transparency: Materials are categorized as transparent, translucent, or opaque.
2. Material Description:
  • Materials for Tubes and Sealing Caps: Describes properties and temperature ranges for materials like glass, polyallomer, polypropylene, polyethylene, polycarbonate, polyflor, and polystyrene.
  • Sterilization: Guidelines for autoclaving and other methods, noting effects on different materials.
  • Chemical Resistance: A detailed chart provides guidance on chemical compatibility under centrifugation stress.
3. Ordering Information and Prices: Details types of tubes and bottles available, including glass, plastic, advanced Oak Ridge tubes, and accessories.
4. Compatibility with Rotors of Other Manufacturers: Notes on compatibility with rotors from other manufacturers.
5. Additional Notes: Emphasizes testing centrifuge tubes before use and discarding them at the first sign of irregularities. Highlights the lack of a single perfect material for all applications.
Advanced Oak Ridge (AOR) Tubes:
  • Specifications: Designed for preparative centrifugation applications, available in materials like Polycarbonate (PC), Polypropylene Copolymer (PPCO), Polyethylene (PE), and Polyflor (PF).
  • Sealing Cap Design: Features a conical plug with three self-seal pressure rings for a triple contact seal.
  • Recommendations: Use of optional o-rings for biohazardous applications is recommended.
  • Product Range: Lists various tube sizes and high-speed centrifuge bottles with specific features.
  • Quality Assurance: Products carry the CE sign and are manufactured under an ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
Accessories: Lists various accessories such as extractor tools, cleaning brushes, and rotor stands, identified by catalog numbers.
Key Considerations: Users are advised to note packaging sizes when placing orders. Herolab is not responsible for damages resulting from errors or omissions.

Many factors influence the performance characteristics and lifespan of centrifuge consumables. This catalog has been compiled as a general guideline but, in no case, expresses absolute guarantee of the products under laboratory conditions. Due to the large number of different applications and techniques the single „perfect“ material for centrifuge tubes does not exist. A material may show excellent performance qualities in one application and then fail horribly in the next. Note: All centrifuge tubes should be tested prior to use. At the first sign of irregularities these tubes should be discarded...

Materials for Tubes and Sealing Caps Glass Borex = B / Duran = D / HS = High-Speed Temperature range: B = 0 to + 250°C / D = 0 to + 200°C / HS = 0 to + 300°C Transparent glass tubes are available in Borex and Duran for low speed applications when clarity and good chemical tolerance is required. Glass tubes must be treated with care when removing pellets, washing and storing. Surface scratches and etchings will significantly reduce the life span of glass tubes. All glass tubes show a better tolerance to high temperatures than to low temperatures. However, strong acids and bases may attack...

GmbH Laborgerate 2. Material Description Temperature range: - 150° to + 121°C Polycarbonate is a transparent, rigid and non-pierceable material. It is compatible with neutral salt and dilute acid solutions but extremely sensitive to organic solvents, alcohols, oils, DMSO and alkaline solutions. Tubes and bottles are reusable, but care should be taken to avoid scratching the surface with glass rods and hard bristle brushes. Please use rubber coated spatulas and soft bristle brushes. -Important note for cleaning: Use only mild, non-alkaline detergents and wash them by hand. Repeated washing in...
