Product catalog summary
Background
Ventilators are essential devices used in hospitals, during patient transport, and at home to assist or fully support breathing for patients who cannot breathe independently. These machines require stability, accuracy, and reliability, with personalized settings for each patient.

Solutions
Honeywell offers a variety of sensor and switch solutions to enhance the performance and reliability of ventilators. These solutions help monitor patient breathing and ensure the safe operation of ventilators.

Airflow Sensors
The Zephyr™ HAF Series and AWM90000 Series airflow sensors from Honeywell feature high accuracy, fast response time, and low power consumption. They measure air, oxygen, and nitrous oxide flow to monitor patient breathing and ensure the correct mixture is delivered.

Magnetic Sensors
The SS360/SS460 Series sensors control motor speed and provide reliable output for smooth motor control, reducing noise and vibration.

Pressure Sensors and Transducers
Honeywell offers board mount and heavy-duty pressure sensors, including the TruStability® HSC Series and MIP Series, which monitor patient breathing, detect clogged filters, and control air and oxygen flow with high accuracy and a wide range of pressure options.

Temperature Sensors
The 192/194 Series and 500 Series sensors monitor and control air temperature to improve patient comfort by providing warm, moist air.

Humidity/Temperature Sensors
Honeywell HumidIcon™ sensors enhance patient comfort by monitoring and controlling air temperature and moisture content, delivering warm, moist air.

Oxygen Sensors
The OOMLF Series measures and controls oxygen concentration in air mixtures, offering lead-free, temperature-compensated, and high-accuracy solutions.

Basic and AML Switches
These switches are used for on/off controls and detection for covers, panels, and doors, ensuring safety by preventing operation when doors are ajar.

Barcode Scan Engines & Software
Honeywell's N670X, N660X, and SwiftDecoder™ software improve patient safety by automating and accurately tracking patient and caregiver IDs.

Pressure Switches
The LP, LE, and 5000 Series pressure switches act as high-pressure warnings, providing safety measures in case of over-pressure events.

Warranty/Remedy
Honeywell warrants its products against defects in materials and workmanship. Warranty details are available upon request, and Honeywell assumes no responsibility for improper installation or use.

Contact Information
Honeywell provides a global network of sales offices and distributors for more information, with contact details available for various regions.

Honeywell Sensing - Medical Solutions for Ventilators-1

SOLUTIONS FOR VENTILATORS Sensors and Switches Application Note A ventilator is designed to move a mixture of air and oxygen into and out of a patient’s lungs to either assist in breathing or, in some cases, do the mechanical breathing for a patient who is breathing insufficiently or is physically unable to breathe. BACKGROUND Ventilators are used in hospital intensive care or high dependency units, during patient transport or at homes, to provide assisted breathing or to provide breathing for patients who are no longer able to breathe for themselves. Honeywell sensor and switch solutions are designed to enhance the performance and reliability of ventilators, monitor patient breathing and ensure the safe and efficient operation of the equipment. (See Figure 1). Supporting a vital function, the breathing machines need to be stable, accurate and reliable. The assistance provided by ventilators is personalized for each patient and can be set and adapted at any time to the patient’s specific breathing conditions and needs. SOLUTIONS FOR VENTILATOR APPLICATIONS • Airflow Sensors • Temperature Sensors • Pressure Sensors and Transducers • Humidity/Temperature Sensors • Oxygen Sensors • Magnetic Sensors • Basic and AML Switches • Barcode Scan Engines & Software •
