Product catalog summary
Overview: The Smart-Y™ Centesis Device is designed to enhance patient safety during thoracocentesis and abdominocentesis by providing a closed, one-way valve system. This system allows for rapid drainage of air or fluid while preventing backflow, thus reducing the risk of complications such as iatrogenic pneumothorax.
Key Features:
  • Closed System: Ensures sterility and security, allowing for accurate measurement and rapid drainage.
  • One-Way Valves: Dual check valves ensure correct fluid and air direction, eliminating the need for 3-way stop-cocks.
  • MicroClaves®: Two MicroClaves maintain a closed system even if disconnections occur.
Procedure:
  1. Connect the Smart-Y to the patient using a needle, wingset, or other puncture device.
  2. Attach a syringe to the MicroClave with a green band to act as a pump.
  3. Connect an extension set or capture syringe to the MicroClave with a red band for fluid collection.
  4. Begin drainage by pulling the plunger of the pump syringe to fill it with fluid or air, then expel the contents into the collection device.
  5. If the capture device is below the patient, fluid will continue to siphon without further pumping.
Operation Flow: The process involves four steps: Out from Patient, Into Pump Syringe, Out from Pump Syringe, and Into Capture Syringe/Bag.
