Integra® Reinforcement Matrix

Product catalog summary
Introduction to Integra® Reinforcement Matrix
Integra Reinforcement Matrix is an acellular, sterile porcine dermal matrix designed to reinforce soft tissue where weakness exists, particularly in tendon repairs such as the rotator cuff, patellar, Achilles, biceps, and quadriceps.
Surgical Technique Overview
  • Step 1: Surgical Approach - The rupture is localized using physical examination or ultrasound. Anesthesia is administered, and the patient is positioned prone. An incision is made to access the paratenon.
  • Step 2: Paratenon Incision - The sural nerve is identified and protected. The paratenon is incised and retracted, ensuring careful handling of tissue flaps.
  • Step 3: Suture Repair - The tendon rupture is explored, and the tendon ends are mobilized. The tendon ends are secured with sutures.
  • Step 4: Wrap and Secure Matrix - The Integra Matrix is placed around the tendon, ensuring intimate contact with tissue. It is tubularized with a running stitch, and excess matrix is trimmed. The matrix is sutured to the tendon to prevent delamination.
  • Step 5: Closure - The repair is tested, and the paratenon is reapproximated. A meticulous closure is performed, and a sterile dressing is applied.
Product Specifications
The Integra Reinforcement Matrix is available in sizes 4cm x 7cm and 5cm x 10cm. It is intended for reinforcing soft tissue and is not a substitute for normal body structure or full mechanical support.
Indications and Contraindications
The matrix is indicated for reinforcing tendons but is not suitable for cardiovascular or nervous system reconstruction. It should not be used in patients with porcine product sensitivity or multiple allergies.

Integra® Reinforcement Matrix-2

What is Integra® Reinforcement Matrix? Integra Reinforcement Matrix is an acellular, sterile, porcine dermal matrix intended for the reinforcement of soft tissue where weakness exists and to reinforce soft tissue repaired by suture or suture anchors during tendon repair of the rotator cuff, patellar, Achilles, biceps, quadriceps or other tendons. Achilles Tendon Surgical Technique As the distributor of this device, Integra does not practice medicine and does not recommend this or any other surgical technique for use on a specific patient. The surgeon who performs any implant procedure is responsible...

Step 3 • Suture Repair 3-1 The Achilles tendon rupture is explored and the tendon ends are mobilized and freed from adhesions. The proximal muscle bellies are massaged and the foot is plantar flexed to deliver the tendon ends to anatomic apposition. The proximal and distal stump ends are secured with the suture and stitches of individual preference. Step 4 • Wrap and Secure Matrix 4-1 The Integra Reinforcement Matrix is tagged and placed circumferentially around the tendon. Matrix can be placed on either side towards the tendon. The end suture tags are used to facilitate graft and tendon mobilization....

Integra® Reinforcement Matrix-4

Indications Intended for implantation to reinforce soft tissue where weakness exists and for surgical repair of damaged or ruptured soft tissue, including: Reinforcement of the rotator cuff, patellar, Achilles, biceps, quadriceps, or other tendons. Integra Reinforcement Matrix is not intended to replace normal body structure or provide the full mechanical strength to support tendon repair of the rotator cuff, patellar, Achilles, biceps, quadriceps, or other tendons. Sutures used to repair the tear and sutures or bone anchors used to attach the tissue to the bone provide biomechanical strength...
