SurgiMend® Collagen Matrix for Soft Tissue Reconstruction

Product catalog summary
Product Overview
SurgiMend® is an acellular collagen matrix derived from fetal and neonatal bovine dermis, designed for soft tissue repair and reconstruction. It offers advantages over synthetic and other biologic products due to its strength, thickness, and high levels of Type III collagen, which aids in tissue healing and reduces scarring.
Specifications
SurgiMend is available in thicknesses of 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, and 4.0 mm, with sizes up to 25 cm x 40 cm. It is a flat, dry sheet of uniform thickness and color, stored at room temperature, and free of chemical crosslinkers. Rehydration takes approximately 60 seconds in room temperature saline.
Safety and Sterilization
The product is terminally sterilized and free of potentially antigenic antibiotics. It is non-pyrogenic and undergoes a validated viral-inactivation process. SurgiMend is certified TSE safe and meets strict regulatory requirements.
Non-Inflammatory Properties
SurgiMend does not elicit an acute or chronic inflammatory response, unlike some other biologic matrices. It is free of preservatives, denatured proteins, and artificial chemical crosslinks, minimizing foreign body inflammation.
Cell Repopulation and Vascularization
The matrix supports rapid cell repopulation and revascularization, enhancing tissue-building and healing. It maintains its properties without significant degradation over time.
Indications
SurgiMend is intended for reinforcing soft tissue and repairing damaged or ruptured membranes. It is indicated for plastic and reconstructive surgery, muscle flap reinforcement, and various types of hernia repair.
Warnings and Precautions
SurgiMend should not be used in patients with hypersensitivity to collagen or bovine products. It is for single patient use and should not be resterilized. Care should be taken in environments with limited blood supply or existing infections, and it should not be exposed to chemicals other than sterile saline.
Ordering Information
SurgiMend is available in various shapes and sizes, including square, rectangle, and ellipse configurations, with specific product codes for each size and thickness.

SurgiMend® Collagen Matrix for Soft Tissue Reconstruction-5

Non-Inflammatory for Better Reinforcement Not all “biologics” are the same. Other acellular matrix products are known to elicit an acute or chronic foreign body inflammatory response that leads to the implant’s degeneration. The inflammatory response to a biologic matrix varies widely depending on source tissue composition, structure, method of processing, and the resulting uniformity and purity of the matrix to be implanted.5,6,7 Acellular Human Cadaveric Dermis Inflammatory Cells Integra’s proprietary manufacturing process preserves the beneficial properties of the natural collagen matrix while...
