Overview of Magellan® PRP™ Technology
The Magellan® technology offers an automated dual spin processing system capable of delivering both Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) and Platelet Poor Plasma (PPP). This system is designed to enhance cell growth, repair blood vessels, and promote wound healing through various growth factors such as PDGF, TGF-B, VEGF, FGF, and EGF.

Growth Factor Assays
Using ELISA assays, the concentration of growth factors in PRP is significantly higher than in initial blood samples. For instance, PDGF AB increases from 10.2 ng/mL to 88.4 ng/mL, and TGF b1 from 41.8 ng/mL to 231.6 ng/mL, demonstrating the system's efficacy in concentrating growth factors.

Customization and Flexibility
The Magellan® Platelet Separator allows for customization of PRP volumes and platelet concentrations to meet individual patient needs. The system can process 60 mL of blood to yield 6 mL of PRP with a 7.2 times baseline platelet concentration. It supports up to three processing cycles per disposable, providing a maximum of 30 mL of PRP.

Stem Cell Concentrations
The system also enhances stem cell concentrations, achieving approximately 5 to 6-fold increases in mesenchymal and hematopoietic stem cells from bone marrow aspirate.
