The Melissa Basic overlay is a pressure-relieving mattress which is placed on top of another foam mattress. It can aid the prevention of pressure ulcers up to and including Category 1. The mattress has a height of 6cm and is made of high-quality, highly elastic cold foam (35kg/m3), providing both comfort and pressure relief at the same time. The mattress is also suitable as an underlay or spacer mattress (for example, under an air mattress). CHOOSE A HYGIENE COVER FOR YOUR MATTRESS Our RX hygiene covers are waterproof and prevent urine, blood etc. from penetrating through to the mattress core. The hygiene covers are breathable and made of a rustle-free, bi-elastic polyurethane fabric. There is a stitched zip on 3 sides to facilitate removal for washing. The RX covers are available in two variants: • RXH-5 – with handles. • RXH-5 Resår – with handles and elasticated fastening. The Melissa Basic overlay mattress has undergone pressure management testing at the independent testing institute Swerea IVF. This provides an objective assessment of the pressure relief properties of the mattress. In the case of overlay mattresses, the result is affected by the base mattress used underneath. Giving these impression bodies a load that is representative of an average human body, different mattresses and beds can be evaluated objectively using pressure mats.
