Surgical Technique Distal Tibia Medial Plate Determine the length of the plate from preoperative x-rays. This procedure is normally performed with the patient in a supine position. The anteromedial approach is used for open reduction and internal fixation of the articular part of the tibia. 4. Reduction and Preliminary Fixation Reposition fracture fragments and the articular surface under fluoroscopic view and temporarily fix in place with guide pins. Consider planned plate position by guide pin insertion to avoid interference between guide pins and plate. Required Instruments Required Set...

Surgical Technique Distal Tibia Medial Plate Position the plate on the distal part of tibia. Fix the plate to the bone temporarily with guide pins. 6. Drilling and Screw Insertion Insert first non-locking screw(35-SO-LXX-T) in the distal ❶ part of plate shaft. Non-locking screw compresses plate on the bone surface. For pre-drilling use drill guide(111-203) and drill bit(112-35-704). ❷ Determine the screw length with depth gauge(111-266). Required Instruments Guide Pin 3.5 Distal Tibia Plat

Surgical Technique Distal Tibia Medial Plate 6. Drilling and Screw Insertion - continued I ❸ nsert screw using screwdriver(113-HF-616) and T ❹ o insert Locking screws(35L-SO-LXX-TA) in the proximal part, the use of drill sleeve(111-264) is reco mmended for drilling in the pre-defined screw angle. Recommendation for Screw Fixation According to fracture pattern choose Locking- or Non-locking screw for appropriate fixation. To achieve a fixation stability, insert at least 4 screws in proximal- and distal part of the plate each. Required Instruments Driver ARIX Ankle Distal Tibia System
