LAA Closure Model HEARTROID LAA closure model facilitates training for the LAA (left atrial appendage) closure procedure, a catheter-based operation for patients at risk of stroke due to atrial fibrillation. Guided by echocardiography, the delivery catheter can be inserted through the atrial septum and the occluder can be deployed in the LAA. Blood flow from the left atrium to the left ventricle is simulated, so the location of the occluder can be confirmed by X-ray fluoroscopy during the procedure.
