5 Impact Testing A critical component in the design of high abuse lighting is its ability to absorb significant impact without impeding the integrity of the fixture. For this reason, Kenall conducts rigorous impact testing on all of our high abuse luminaires to assess their ability to do so. This assessment utilizes a drop test—subjecting the fixture to a 10 kg weight released from up to three meters in height onto its face—delivering up to 300 joules of energy upon impact.
